Eli Lilly: FDA approves treatment for liver cancer

(CercleFinance.com) - The US Food and Drug Administration on Monday approved Eli Lilly's drug to treat an aggressive form of liver cancer with poor prognosis.

The FDA has approved Cyramza for the treatment of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), while also also removing the boxed warning from the drug's labeling.

With up to 90% of all cases, hepatocellular carcinoma is the most common form of liver cancer, which is the fourth-leading cause of cancer-related death in the world.

This new indication is the fifth FDA approval for Cyramza in an advanced or metastatic cancer.
