Intel: invests 20 billion dollars in 2 semiconductor plants

(CercleFinance.com) - As part of the company's "IDM 2.
0" corporate strategy, Intel's CEO, Pat Gelsinger, has announced a 20 billion dollar investment to build two semiconductor plants in Arizona.

These plants will meet the growing demands of Intel's existing customers, as well as provide new semiconductor production capacity.

The company boss also announced the creation of a new division called Intel Foundry Services, to provide the US and Europe with a dedicated foundry services arm, which specialises in semiconductor materials.

While Intel has a global network of in-house factories enabling it to manufacture on a large scale, the director reinstated the company's desire to continue to manufacture the majority of its products in-house.

At the same time, Pat Gelsinger intends to increase the use of subcontractors in order to increase flexibility and scale.
