Harley-Davidson: direct victim of trade war
(CercleFinance.com) - Harley-Davidson estimates the annual negative impact of the European Union's customs tariff hike at around 90-100 million dollars in retaliation for duties on US steel and aluminum imports.
As a result, the Wisconsin-based motorcycle manufacturer - one of the key states that ensured Donald Trump's election victory in 2016 - plans to shift production from US sites towards international plants to circumvent the European decision.
Harley-Davidson says that this transfer of production will require additional investments at sites outside the US and could take at least nine to 18 months to be fully completed.
