Ford: expanding its electric mobility strategy

(CercleFinance.com) - Ford has announced that it will continue to invest heavily in electric mobility at its Valencia plant in Spain.

From the end of 2022, the hybrid engine for the Kuga PHEV, as well as the Kuga, Galaxy and S-MAX Full Hybrid (FHEV) models, will be manufactured at the site.

The 2.5-litre Duratec hybrid engine - currently manufactured at Ford's Chihuahua plant in Mexico - will also be built in Valencia alongside the 2.0-litre and 2.3-litre EcoBoost petrol engines, Ford says.

The carmaker also confirmed an additional investment of 5.2 million euros to support increased battery pack assembly capacity in Valencia, following an initial investment of 24 million euros announced in January 2020.

The first 100%-electric passenger car produced by Ford in Europe will be manufactured in the Cologne plant (Germany) in 2023, with the group currently considering the possibility of a second all-electric vehicle.
