Ford: recalls Ford F-150 vehicles in Canada

(CercleFinance.com) - Ford Motor Company has announced a safety recall in Canada for certain Ford F-150 vehicles from the years 2015-2018 for a tailgate opening problem.
The issue concerns 89,472 vehicles in Canada.

These vehicles are fitted with an electric tailgate release switches. Water that may get into the electrical wiring system could cause the switch to short circuit and release the bolt-action latch.

Opening the tailgate could result in loss of cargo, which increases the risk of an accident. Ford is not aware of any accident or reports of accidents or injuries related to this problem, it said, however.

The vehicles concerned were built at the Dearborn plant from 28 July 2014 to 22 October 2018, and at the Kansas City assembly plant from 19 February 2015 to 4 November 2018.
