Ford: European sales down 3.4% in second-quarter
(CercleFinance.com) - Ford saw its European car sales drop by 3.
4 percent in the second quarter, suffering from weak demand in the UK, its top market in the region, the US carmaker said on Tuesday.
Deliveries in the so-called "Euro 20 markets" decreased to 346,800 in the past quarter from 359,100 a year earlier, the group said.
Sales of the Fiesta in particular fell by 16 percent to 60,400 vehicles.
In Britain, second-quarter volume fell by over 4 percent to 90,800 units.
Ford said it is launching fresh SUVs - including the new Puma and the new Kuga - to better meet customer demand.
Last month Ford said it was adopting a new business model in Europe to improve its financial results in the region, a decision that will impact approximately 12,000 jobs at its European facilities.
