Ford: develops alliance with Volkswagen
(CercleFinance.com) - Ford and Volkswagen announce the development of their global collaboration to advance autonomous driving, manufacture of electric vehicles and their service to clients.
Volkswagen joins forces with Ford to invest in Argo AI, the autonomous vehicle platform. This will allow both automakers to independently integrate the Argo AI self-driving system into their own vehicles.
Ford will use the architecture of Volkswagen's electric vehicle and the Modular Electric Toolkit to design and build at least one entirely electric vehicle for European customers from 2023.
Ford and Volkswagen will develop commercial vans and pickups for each brand in several markets around the world from 2022. The two groups will share development costs to generate significant synergies.
