ExxonMobil: natural gas discovery off Cyprus coast
(CercleFinance.com) - ExxonMobil has announced a discovery of natural gas off the coast of Cyprus in the eastern Mediterranean sea by its Glaucus-1 well, the second of two wells on the Block 10 program (with the first - Delphyne-1, having failed to find commercially interesting quantities).
Based on the preliminary interpretation of data, this discovery could represent approximately 142 billion to 227 billion m3 of gas, with additional analyses in the coming months being required to better determine its potential.
Block 10, which covers 2,572 km2, is operated by its 60%-held subsidiary, ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Cyprus (Offshore) Limited, with Qatar Petroleum International Upstream O.P.C. Owning the remaining 40%.
