ExxonMobil: makes fifth discovery in offshore Guyana block
(CercleFinance.com) - US oil giant ExxonMobil said on Thursday that it has struck oil offshore Guyana, marking its fifth discovery on the block in the past year.
After drilling to 13,862 feet (4,225 metres) depth in 3,373 feet (1,150 metres) of water, the company has discovered approximately 197 feet (60 metres) of high-quality, oil-bearing sandstone reservoir, it said.
The ship began drilling on 27 July 2018.
The 6.6 million acres (26,800 square kilometres) block is operated and held by ExxonMobil affiliate Esso Exploration and Production Guyana.
