Disney: 'The Lion King' tops box office
(CercleFinance.com) - Disney's "The Lion King" has reigned over the US box office for its debut this weekend.
The live-action film, another big-screen adaptation of Disney's 1994 classic, sold 185 million dolars worth of tickets during its first three days.
The film already posted a huge 23 million dollars in Thursday evening previews at the domestic box office, where it opened in over 4,700 theaters.
In another blast for Disney, Marvel Studios' "Avengers: Endgame" has overtaken over the weekend the global box office record that has been held by Avatar for the past 10 years.
To date, the superhero movie has grossed a total of 2.88 billion dollars worldwide.
