Disney: 'Captain Marvel' crushes competition at box office
(CercleFinance.com) - Disney's "Captain Marvel" starring Brie Larson took in 455 million dollars worldwide for its opening weekend, marking the sixth highest global debut of all time.
"Captain Marvel" ruled the domestic charts, with 153 million dollars in sales on the domestic market, plus an estimated 89 million dollars in China, according to audience company Comscore.
The movie's performance easily beat Universal's "How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World" and Lionsgate's "Green Book".
"Captain Marvel" has become the second biggest opening for a superhero film and the biggest ever for March.
