Costco: August sales up 15%
(CercleFinance.com) - On Wednesday evening Costco Wholesale announced August sales of 13.
56 billion dollars (four weeks to 30 August), up 15% y-o-y (+13.2% on a like-for-like basis).
In data adjusted for FX factors and gasoline prices, comparable sales of the warehouse distribution group increased by 14.5% - in particular online sales doubled.
Costco estimates that its sales have been negatively impacted by a calendar effect due to the date of Labor Day this year, amounting to 75 bp in the US and slightly over 50 basis points worldwide.
