Caterpillar: August sales up across all regions
(CercleFinance.com) - Caterpillar's machinery sales through dealers jumped across all regions and almost all businesses for the three months ended August, particularly boosted by strong demand in North America.
According to worldwide statistics provided by the heavy equipment manufacturer, Caterpillar's dealer-reported retail sales were up 23% year-on-year for the period.
Growth was boosted by a 29% jump in North America, followed by a 28% rise in Asia/Pacific.
Demand for oil and gas heavy machinery was the strongest (+36%), while demand for industrial equipment fell by 9% in the three months, Cat said.
Shares of Caterpillar were flat as the market opened this Friday.
