Apple: Brussels opens two investigations into Apps
(CercleFinance.com) - The European Commission announced on Tuesday the opening of two investigations into anti-competitive practices against Apple, one concerning its mobile payment service Apple Pay and the other concerning its online application store, the App Store.
Brussels is concerned that Apple's terms and conditions, as well as other measures relating to the integration of Apple Pay, may distort competition and reduce choice and innovation.
At the same time, the European Commission has today also opened formal investigations into whether Apple's rules imposed on developers regarding the distribution of applications via the App Store also infringe EU competition rules.
