Apple: trails Huawei again
(CercleFinance.com) - According to data compiled by the firm IDC, the US giant Apple has again been outpaced - both in one quarter and in terms of smartphone deliveries, by the Chinese group Huawei, which is in second place in the market, behind the Korean group Samsung.
Indeed, in the first quarter of 2019, Samsung sold some 71.9 million phones (-8.1% in one year), ahead of Huawei's 59.1 million (+50.3%) and Apple's 36.4 million (-30.2%). The apple brand is now behind the Chinese group for the third quarter, after the second and third quarters of 2018. Apple had benefited from the release of its new iPhones to reclaim the silver medal in the last quarter of 2018.
Apple's quarterly market share fell to 11.7%, with Samsung at 23.1% and Huawei at 19%.
In total, IDC says that some 310.8 million smartphones were sold worldwide in the first quarter of 2019.
