Amazon: two billion dollar climate fund
(CercleFinance.com) - On Tuesday Amazon announced the creation of a 2 billion dollar fund to invest in companies working to decarbonize the economy and protect the environment.
The fund will invest in companies in all countries and of all sizes, from start-ups to well-established groups, provided that they act in favour of carbon neutrality, Amazon said in a statement.
The Seattle-based tech giant explains that the initiative is part of its project ”The Climate Pledge”, a commitment to achieve carbon neutrality by 2040, i.e. 10 years before the 2050 target set by the Paris Agreement.
Verizon, Reckitt Benckiser and Infosys have recently joined this consortium launched by Amazon.
