Amazon: collaborates with Microsoft in digital assistants.
(CercleFinance.com) - Amazon and Microsoft have announced today that their respective vocal digital assistants, Alexa and Cortana, will be able to talk to each other, with users now able to say, "Alexa, open Cortana," or vice versa.
Alexa users may access Cortana's features, e.g. booking meetings, accessing calendars, reminders and reading work emails - all by voice. Similarly, Cortana users may ask Alexa to control smart-home devices, do online shopping and interact with over 20,000 skills built by developers.
"Ensuring Cortana is available for our customers everywhere is a key priority for us," said Satya Nadella, CEO at Microsoft, continuing, "Bringing Cortana's knowledge... to Alexa is a great step toward that goal."
Alexa and Cortana will begin talking to each other later this year.
