Altice USA: to launch new fiber service in New York
(CercleFinance.com) - Altice USA is introducing a new fiber service in the New York area to support the explosive growth of data usage, the telecoms group said on Tuesday.
The "Altice Gigabit" fiber symmetrical internet service over the new fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) network will be first available to residential customers in select areas of Long Island.
The fiber service will then roll out to additional areas of Long Island and throughout Altice's New York area region as the company continues to deploy and activate its FTTH network.
Altice USA says the service will enable customers to stream 4K ultra-high-definition (UHD) and high-definition (HD) video on multiple devices, to enjoy augmented-reality games, and to download large files simultaneously on dozens of devices at once.
Altice USA now has approximately 4.9 million residential and business customers across 21 states through its Optimum and Suddenlink brands.
