Telia: board shake-up

(CercleFinance.com) - On Monday Swedish telecom operator Telia announced the arrival of two new senior executives as part of its strategy to refocus on the Nordic and Baltic markets.

The group, which last week severed its last ties with the Turkish market, announced on Monday morning the appointment of Markus Messerer - the current head of the Swiss IT company Alltron - as director of strategy, innovation and international activities.

Meanwhile, Rachel Samren, from the Millicom Group, will join the telecommunications operator as Head of External Affairs and Governance.

Another notable change is that Dan Stromberg - the head of the Lithuanian branch - will now take over responsibility for the entire LED region (Lithuania, Estonia and Denmark).

These changes will also mean the departure of, Asa Jamal, Head of Communications, and Emil Nilsson, the previous head of the LED branch.

All these announcements come as Allison Kirkby, the group's new CEO, officially took office last month.
