Telia: secures new 5G frequencies in Finland
(CercleFinance.com) - Telia said that it has invested in new 5G frequencies in Finland in a move enabling superfast connections with gigabit speeds for both consumers and businesses.
The Swedish telecoms company said that it has secured an 800 MHz frequency block on the 26 GHz band as part of the latest frequency auction by Finland's Ministry of Traffic and Communications.
The new frequencies will help improve capacity at large events and offer an alternative for superfast broadband connections in urban areas, the operator said.
Telia launched its 5G services in Finland in October 2019 on the lower 3.5 GHz frequency band. The company has now rolled out 5G services in over ten Finnish cities.
The licenses are valid for thirteen years, and the price for the new frequency blocks is 7 million euros, including administration fees for the auction.
