Ericsson: impairment charge 'may be required'

(CercleFinance.com) - Swedish telecoms gear giant Ericsson may have to book an impairment charge in its digital services and TV segments, the company said on Friday.

This morning the company said that goodwill re-allocation and impairment testing will now begin to be completed by the end of the year, with the outcome to be communicated before its fourth-quarter results are announced, scheduled for 31 January 2018.

The annoucement comes as Ericsson today disclosed the restated financials for full-year 2015, each quarter of 2016 and the three first quarters of 2017.

Its B shares were pretty much unchanged on the Nasdaq/OMX after this news, adding 0.5% at 53.1 Swedish kronor.

"Our gross and net cash positions are strong, and will not be impacted by a potential impairment," the group reassured this morning.
