Statoil: sells stake in UK Central North Sea oil field
(CercleFinance.com) - Norwegian oil and gas firm Statoil said on Monday that it had agreed to sell a "non-core" 17% interest in a field located in the UK Central North Sea to UK-based Verus Petroleum.
The Alba oil field on the UK Continental Shelf - which Statoil entered in 1995 - is currently operated by US giant Chevron.
In a statement, Statoil said it has decided to focus on high-value, low-carbon assets in the UK, with offshore wind projects, and also natural gas supplies.
