Statoil: oil discovery in the Barents Sea.
(CercleFinance.com) - Statoil said on Monday that with Italy's Eni and Norway's Petoro it has made an oil discovery in a well located in the Barents Sea.
The discovery, which totals between 25 and 50 million barrel of oil equivalent that is recoverable may provide valuable additional volumes, the Norwegian oil firm said.
The discovery also opens other exploration opportunities in the area, Statoil added.
The company said that it has also kicked-off its UK exploration campaign, starting a three-well exploration drilling campaign on the UK continental shelf.
In early July, the Transocean Spitsbergen semi-submersible rig will dig the first well in the campaign, which is expected to be completed in 20-40 days.
The last well of the campaign will take between 30 and 70 days to complete.
