Norsk Hydro: Brazilian aluminium plant resumes production
(CercleFinance.com) - Production has resumed at Norsk Hydro's Albras aluminium plant in Brazil, ending more than a year of standstill, following a federal court's decision, the Norwegian company said on Tuesday.
The process to resume full production will be initiated immediately, with a return to full capacity expected in the second half of 2019, the aluminium producer said.
The decision to restart the plant came after a federal court in Belem lifted the production embargo on Nork Hydro's Alunorte alumina refinery, allowing Alunorte to ramp up towards normal production.
Albras reduced its production in April 2018, following Alunorte's mandatory production cut.
