ASML: remains Oddo's best pick in sector

(CercleFinance.com) - Last night July 2020 global semiconductor sales were released by the WSTS (World Semiconductor Trade Statistics).

In smoothed data (3 month Moving Averages), they came in at 35.2 billion dollars, above Oddo's forecast of 34.6 billion dollars.

Annual growth reaches 4.9%, equivalent to that of June. Volumes were down 1.9% (vs. -2.8% in April), while prices rose by 7.1% (vs. +7.9%).

Oddo says that ASML remains its top pick in the sector. It remains cautious about its exposure to the automobile sector, particularly for Infineon, which has a 45% exposure to the car market and company exposure to Huawei (STMicroelectronics).

Amongst Midcaps, the broker has buy ratings on ASMi, Soitec, Dialog, ams, Siltronic and Aixtron, while it is cautious about Elmos.
