Euronext: confirms talks for Borsa Italiana
(CercleFinance.com) - Euronext and CDP Equity (a subsidiary of Cassa Depositi e Prestiti) have confirmed that they are in exclusive discussions with London Stock Exchange Group to acquire Borsa Italiana, together with Intesa Sanpaolo, while there is no certainty that this will result in a transaction.
The combination would create a leading player in continental European capital markets, they said, adding that Italy, via Borsa Italiana, would become the largest contributor in terms of revenues to the enlarged Euronext group.
Borsa Italiana would maintain its current functions, structure and relations within the Italian ecosystem and would preserve its Italian identity and strengths. Its CEO would join the Euronext Management Board.
