Airbus: selected by Eutelsat to build satellite
(CercleFinance.com) - Airbus has been selected by Eutelsat to build Eutelsat 36D, a next-generation multi-mission geostationary communications satellite that will renew and enhance the operator's capacity at 36° East.
"With 70 Ku-band transponders over five downlink beams and a steerable antenna, EUTELSAT 36D provides flexibility and performance optimisation to deliver service in Africa, Russia and Europe," it said.
Scheduled for launch in the first half of 2024, the satellite combines 18 kW of electrical power with a launch weight of just five tonnes, thanks to Airbus' electric propulsion. It will have an operational life of over 15 years.
