Airbus: to make 15,000 redundancies

(CercleFinance.com) - Airbus has announced plans to adapt its global workforce and resize its commercial aviation business in response to the Covid-19 crisis, which is expected to result in it making approximately 15,000 redundancies by the summer of 2021 at the latest.

"With air traffic not expected to recover to pre-COVID levels before 2023 and potentially as late as 2025, Airbus now needs to take additional measures to reflect the post COVID-19 industry outlook," Airbus said.

The information and consultation process with social partners has begun with a view to concluding agreements whose implementation will begin this autumn. In particular, it expects to make around 5,000 redundancies in France and 5,100 in Germany.
