Airbus: could scale down production of the A330neo

(CercleFinance.com) - Airbus plans to cut production of its A330neo, Bloomberg said on Thursday.

Its largest customer for this model - AirAsia X - would like to delay the deliveries of its planes due to the impact of the coronavirus, Blomberg says.

Falling air traffic could lead the company to make this decision. Note that AirAsia X represents a quarter of A330neo total orders.

This would be in addition to the announcement made last month that production of the A330 model would decrease to 40 planes in 2020, compared to 53 last year. However, note that deliveries in 2019 were partly inflated due to delivery delays, Bloomberg says.

If the epidemic lasts a long time and worse, if it ever becomes chronic, aircraft manufacturers could pay a heavy price for this crisis, Aurel BGC says this morning.
