Airbus: performance enhanced for A220 family
(CercleFinance.com) - Today Airbus announces a major performance improvement for the A220 family from the second half of 2020.
It is now confirmed that the maximum takeoff weight of the A220 will be increased by 2,268 kg. This improvement will increase the respective capabilities of the maximum range to 3,350 nautical miles (nm) for the A220-300 and to 3,400 nm for the A220-100, some 450 nm more than those currently announced.
This performance optimisation will enable companies to operate new lines that were not possible before, by connecting key cities in Western Europe to the Middle East or from Southeast Asia to Australia.
"With an order book of over 530 aircraft to date, the A220 has all the credentials to win the lion's share of the 100- to 150-seat aircraft market, estimated to represent 7,000 aircraft over the next 20 years," the group said.
