Airbus: delivers first ULR A350-900 plane to SIA
(CercleFinance.com) - Airbus has announced the delivery of its first Ultra Long Range (ULR) A350-900 aircraft to its client Singapore Airlines (SIA).
This aircraft has autonomy of up to 9,700 nautical miles, or over 20 hours non-stop flying. In all, SIA has ordered seven A350-900 ULR aircraft, which are configured in two classes - with 67 seats in business class and 94 seats in higher economy class.
SIA will begin to operate the A350-900 ULR on 11 October, when it will launch non-stop services between Singapore and New York. With an average flight time of 18 hours and 45 minutes, these will be the longest commercial flights in the world. After New York, the plane will enter into service on two other non-stop transpacific routes, to Angeles and San Francisco.
