SES: commissioning of Govsat-1 satellite service
(CercleFinance.com) - SES announced on Monday morning that the GovSat-1 satellite, which provides advanced and highly secure communication capabilities for mission-critical missions by governments and institutions, is now operational.
This is the first of GovSat's satellites, a public-private partnership between the Luxembourg government and SES. GovSat-1 was launched on 31 January this year, aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket that had a successful flight from the Air Force Station of Cape Canaveral (Florida, US), and has since been subject to many tests.
This multi-mission satellite is operated by GovSat from the secure operation and control centre located in Luxembourg. It enables a broad range of applications such as connectivity in operation theatres, the interconnection of key institutional and defence sites, border control, as well as intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance applications (Intelligence, Surveillance and Recognition), and various types of mobile communications for land and sea missions.
