RTL Group: net income up 10% in 2019
(CercleFinance.com) - On Friday the European broadcasting group RTL Group announced a 10% increase in 2019 net income to 864 million euros, in particular thanks to the sale of the Universum Film.
Excluding exceptional items, however EBITDA was flat last year, at 1.16 billion euros, RTL said in a statement.
Its EBITDA margin slipped to 17.4%, from 18% in 2018.
At a constant consolidation scope and exchange rates, revenues increased by 3.2% to 6.65 billion euros, driven by the increase in the audience of RTL Deutschland and M6.
The media group - controlled by the German Bertelsmann - forecasts 2019 EBITA that is pretty stable, although this forecast excludes any impact related to Covid-19.
However, RTL warns that it is faced with the first cancellations of advertising campaigns, as well as disruptions in its productions.
The stock is currently up 0.6% on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
