ENI: cleared in Nigeria-OPL45 case
(CercleFinance.com) - A Milan court has cleared Eni and dropped charges against the Italian company in the Nigeria-OPL245 trial, a case in which Eni was suspected of paying large bribes in exchange for a licence to explore the OPL 245 offshore oil block in Nigeria.
After three years of proceedings, the court found that the company, its CEO Claudio Descalzi and the management involved at the time all behaved lawfully and correctly.
Eni expresses its gratitude for the trust and confidence placed in it by its stakeholders throughout the trial.
Shell, which was also named in the case, has also been acquitted.
