Vodafone: completes merger in India after antitrust approval
(CercleFinance.com) - Vodafone India and Idea have won approval from all competition and regulatory authorities to complete their merger, creating India's leading telecoms operator, according to a statement on Friday.
With nearly 408 million customers, the newly formed company will have annual revenue of over 7 billion euros and EBITDA of 1.4 billion euros.
It is expected to generate synergies of around 1.7 billion euros in costs and capex synergies.
The combined entity - now jointly controlled by Vodafone and the Aditya Birla Group - will be renamed "Vodafone Idea" and will remain listed on the Indian stockmarket.
