easyJet: entire fleet now grounded

(CercleFinance.com) - British low-cost carrier easyJet today said that it has grounded its entire fleet of aircraft as a result of travel restrictions and lockdowns imposed throughout Europe.

After helping to repatriate customers, having operated over 650 rescue flights to date, the final rescue flights occurred on Sunday 29 March, the airline said.

easyJet said it will continue to work with government entities to operate additional rescue flights as requested.

However, at this stage, there can be no certainty about when commercial flights may resume, the group said.

Even though easyJet said it maintains a "strong balance sheet," with no debt re-financings due until 2022, the company is currently in discussions with liquidity providers, it added.

Its shares were down 5.7% on the London Stock Exchange on Monday morning.
