London Stock Exchange: shares up 3% after solid results

(CercleFinance.com) - Shares of the London Stock Exchange are up 3% on Friday morning after the British stock exchange operator reported solid earnings, despite uncertainty around Brexit.


The stock rose as high as 4,685 pence in early trading. At 10:15 it was trading at 4,637 pence, up 3%, outperforming a 0.6% rise in the FTSE 100 index.

The company reported total revenue that is up 8% at 1.9 billion pounds for 2018, beating the consensus, with operating profit that is up 20% at 751 million pounds.

LSE said its businesses, including those most exposed to Brexit, such as clearing, continue to perform very well, with no change in its market position.

Citing "strong performance" and "confident outlook," the group said it plans to propose a final dividend of 43.2 pence per share, meaning the full year dividend will be raised by 17% to 60.4 pence per share.
