ITV: to launch streaming offer with BBC
(CercleFinance.com) - The private British audio-visual group ITV and its public counterpart, the BBC, have signed an agreement for the commercial launch of streaming service BritBox in the 4th quarter of this year.
BritBox will be an on-demand multi-screen video streaming service charged at 5.99 pounds per month. The content it will give access to will come from the two groups' catalogues and British productions, but will also later on include programmes and television series specially produced for BritBox.
ITV will in the first place hold 90% of the capital of the BritBox joint venture, but the BBC holds an option to allow it to go up, over time, to 25%.
