Burberry: to stop destroying unsold products

(CercleFinance.com) - Burberry said on Thursday that it would stop destroying unsold products, with immediate effect, and confirmed that it will no longer use fur.

The British luxury house said the decision comes as part of its new strategy, which aims at eliminating causes of waste, with the firm saying it plans to expand its efforts in reusing, repairing, and donating unsaleable products.

Burberry also confirmed it will no longer use real fur and that there will be no fur in Riccardo Tisci's debut collection later this month.

"Modern luxury means being socially and environmentally responsible," said Chief Executive Officer Marco Gobbetti.

Burberry stirred criticism over the summer when it burnt millions of pounds worth of unsold products to "protect its brand."
