BT: to sell South American assets to private equity firm

(CercleFinance.com) - BT has reached an agreement to sell its domestic operations and infrastructure in 16 countries of Latin America to private equity firm CIH for an undisclosed amount.

The British broadband and mobile provider said it will still remain present in the region after the deal, continuing to provide networking, cloud and security services to multinational customers across 21 countries.

BT and CIH have also entered into wholesale and reseller agreements, under which CIH will act as a regional channel for BT's products and services and continue to supply connectivity to BT.

Assets and operations in the scope of this transaction represent annual revenues of 110 million pounds (about 120 million euros), BT said.

They include two proprietary fiber networks of leased fiber lines, four data centres and five teleports, with headquarters in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
