BAE Systems: 3-year contract for precision fire
(CercleFinance.com) - BAE Systems has announced that it has been awarded a three-year, incrementally funded contract by DEVCOM AC (the US Army's Combat Capability Development and Weapons Centre Command) to support the Army's long-range precision fire modernization efforts via precision guided munitions (PGM).
BAE says that it has invested heavily to innovate and develop a highly manoeuvrable long-range fire capability that will support soldiers on the battlefield by providing lethality against high-value targets.
For nearly a decade, BAE Systems has been investing in the development of ultra-long-range, hyper-velocity munitions. This aims to be able to defeat fixed and moving targets in degraded or denied GPS environments with twice the range of existing systems.
