BHP: Western Australia's South Flank project approved.

(CercleFinance.com) - BHP today announced the approval of 184 million dollars in initial funding for the South Flank sustaining mine project in Western Australia.

The project is the world's biggest miner's preferred option to replace production from the Yandi mine, also located in Western Australia, when it reaches the end of its economic life in the early-to-mid 2020s.

In fact, first ore extraction - forecast for 2021 - is set to coincide with the shutdown of the Yandi mine.
