bioMérieux: FDA approves a Covid-19 test
(CercleFinance.com) - bioMérieux announces that its subsidiary BioFire Defense has received emergency use authorization from the US FDA for its Biofire Covid-19 test intended to detect SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus by laboratories that are certified for medium-to-high complexity tests.
This test detects SARS-CoV-2 in about 45 minutes from a nasopharyngeal sample taken with a swab. This is the second test launched out of the three that constitute the French group's strategy of in vitro diagnostics to respond to the pandemic.
bioMérieux is currently deploying all the means necessary to increase the production capacity of the test at different production sites in Salt Lake City in the US. It aims to reach maximum production capacity within a few weeks.
