Areva: wins contract with Northstar in the US.
(CercleFinance.com) - Areva has announced signing a contract with NorthStar, which is specialised in sanitation and the dismantling of nuclear facilities in the United States.
This contract covers the cutting and packaging of the tank and the internal components of the steam reactor vessel in Vermont Yankee (State of Vermont). Areva will also provide transportation of packed items to a dedicated storage site.
Guillaume Dureau, director of customer relations, strategy, Innovation and R&D at Areva said: "after the contract that we have just signed with Vattenfall, Germany for cutting and packaging of the tank interior of the Brunsbüttel plant, we are pleased to have been selected for this project across the Atlantic. Such contracts attest the expertise that Areva has accumulated in the dismantling of nuclear reactors over the years."
