Suez: carbon sink commissioned with Fermentalg

(CercleFinance.com) - Fermentalg and Suez announce the inauguration of a new carbon sink in the new biomethanisation unit of the Carré de Réunion plant in Saint-Cyr-l'Ecole (Yvelines).
This will be added to four other facilities installed in Ile-de-France.

The Carré de Réunion wastewater treatment plant is equipped with a biomethaniser which treats the sludge from the waste treatment plant to produce biogas. It aims to recover the CO2 produced during the biogas purification stage.

This CO2 will be injected into the carbon sink to be consumed by micro-algae. The biomass formed will be converted into green energy and will reduce the CO2 footprint of the depollution site. The pilot will be able to treat 5m3 to 10m3 of CO2 per hour.
