Suez: partnership with Engie

(CercleFinance.com) - On Tuesday Engie and Suez announced signing a partnership agreement to accelerate energy transition in French regions.

Both groups will participate in the development of photovoltaic solar in all Recycling & Recovery waste storage facilities in mainland France. In all, about a hundred sites are concerned, for a potential installed capacity estimated at one gigawatt (GW). This represents the capacity equivalent of one nuclear reactor, saving of 27,500 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) per year.

The first project of this partnership will be launched later this year. It is a 12-megawatt (MW) ground-based power plant at the Drambon (Côte d'Or) storage site.

The Suez sites identified for the development of solar energy are mainly recycling and waste processing facilities which are housed on large sites and distributed nationwide. Most of them already produce biogas which is recovered as energy.
