Eutelsat: orders new satellite for 36° Est
(CercleFinance.com) - Eutelsat has selected Airbus to build Eutelsat 36D, a next-generation multi-mission geostationary communications satellite that will renew and enhance the operator's capacity at 36° East.
It is set to be operational until the end of 2026.
"With 70 Ku-band transponders over five downlink beams and a steerable antenna, EUTELSAT 36D provides flexibility and performance optimisation to deliver service in Africa, Russia and Europe," it said.
Scheduled for launch in the first half of 2024, the satellite combines 18 kW of electrical power with a launch weight of just five tonnes, thanks to Airbus' electric propulsion.
