Alstom: contract for 152 X'Trapolis trains in Spain
(CercleFinance.com) - Alstom has announced that it has been awarded a contract to supply Renfe, the Spanish railway operator, with 152 high-capacity trains from its X'Trapolis range of suburban trains, in a deal worth over 1.
4 billion euros in all.
The transport equipment manufacturer says that the contract also includes the maintenance of 56 of these trains for a period of 15 years and the supply of parts for the fleet, as well as the initial stock of spare parts and their tooling.
The new trains will enable Renfe to carry at least 20% more passengers per hour in the country's most congested rail centres, including Madrid and Barcelona. Each train will be able to carry over 900 passengers.
