Alstom: signs contract for Bucharest metro
(CercleFinance.com) - Alstom has signed a contract with Metrorex, the operator of the Bucharest metro, to deliver up to 30 Metropolis trains in two batches for the recent Line 5 of the city's metro network.
The contract is worth over 100 million euros for the first 13 trains. It comes with an option for an additional 17 trains, which could bring the project to a total of 240 million euros.
The first train will be delivered in less than 29 months and will be put into service on the first section of the new metro line, which is already operational.
The remaining 12 trains in the first batch will be delivered immediately upon approval of the first trainset, while the optional 17 trainsets will be delivered on the basis of a firm order from Metrorex.
