Alstom: inauguration of Citadis tramway system in Sydney
(CercleFinance.com) - Alstom has announced the start of the testing and commissioning phase of the first Citadis X05 tramway in Sydney, Australia.
The 12-km route will include 19 stops. Each tram can carry up to 450 passengers, i.e. the equivalent of nine typical buses. The network, which will be able to carry up to 13,500 people per hour, will help reduce congestion and travel times for users in Sydney.
Mark Coxon, Alstom's CEO for Australia and New Zealand said that the Citadis X05 and associated technologies will transform the city of Sydney and radically change the capacity and reliability of the city's public transportation, while preserving Sydney's aesthetic appeal.
